This Green Owl was hand-sewn using fabric scraps and leftover threads. I did purchase the stuffing and the buttons for the eyes. The pattern came from Ann Wood Handmade.
A year ago, when I began questioning the direction my creative business was taking, I would have never thought that doll-making was in my future. I am having so much fun slowly hand-sewing plus the extra challenge of searching through the scraps of things to find just the right combination of color and texture for a three-dimensional creation.
Hand sewing is a funny process. It can be very soothing, but if you try to work fast you will tangle your threads, drop needles, miss-stitch areas and get quite frustrated. The process teaches steady and slow movements, helps to quiet your mind, and feels very Zen.
