About Me
I believe creativity is about the process and requires a knowledge of materials that is gained through slow, repetitive practice plus a good deal of play and experimentation.
I am a multi-disciplinary creative who works in traditional mediums and Adobe Photoshop. My art involves water-based media on paper, slow hand-stitching, and garden photography. Sometimes I sell what I make.
I am also a writer of stories and poems about history, nature, ghosts, and adaptation.
My social media presence is limited because I believe in living a good life and my time is too precious to be spent performing in a contrived digital circus.
By recording my discoveries and sharing my work here, I hope to inspire you to step away from the digital world, breathe deeply, re-engage with your physical senses, and create with slow intention.
My Inspiration
Most of my inspiration comes from walking in gardens, along lakeshores, and in art and archaeology museums. I have a BA in history, an AAS in graphic design, and I love thinking and talking about how old objects tell stories and how history and the arts are relevant for a healthy society.
When I’m not in the studio, I could be in my library with a book and a cup of tea, or I could be out in the garden fussing over my flowers. My gardening goal is to have as many daffodils in my yard as possible.
I live in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with an adorable husband who makes a wicked latté, a daughter who is away at graduate school, and a fetching-obsessed cattle dog with an attitude.
