About Me
I believe creativity is about the process and requires a knowledge of materials that is gained through slow, repetitive practice plus a good deal of play and experimentation. When approached in this way, artistic creation creates a path to inner well-being.
I am a multi-disciplinary creative who works in traditional mediums and Adobe Photoshop. My mixed media art involves watercolor, gouache, graphite, and ink on paper. I also enjoy a variety of fiber arts, slow hand-stitching, and embroidery. I take all of my own photos. Sometimes I sell what I make.
I am also a writer and enjoy the slowness of hand-written stories and poems about history, nature, ghosts, and adaptation.
My social media presence is limited because I believe life is too precious to be spent performing in a contrived digital circus. But here and in my newsletters, by recording my discoveries and sharing my work, I hope to inspire you to step away from the digital world, breathe deeply, re-engage with your physical senses, create slowly, and find your own inner well-being.

My Inspiration
Most of my inspiration comes from walking in gardens, along lakeshores, and in art and archaeology museums. I have a BA in history, an AAS in graphic design, and I love thinking and talking about how old objects tell stories and how history and the arts are relevant for a healthy society.
When I’m not in the studio, I am either in my library with a book, a cup of tea, my journal and my favorite pen, or I could be out in the garden fussing over my flowers. My gardening goal is to have as many daffodils in my yard as possible.
I live in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with an adorable husband who makes a wicked latté, a daughter who is away at graduate school studying meteorites, and a fetching-obsessed cattle dog with an attitude.
I am a founding member of the Artisans Cooperative, a values-aligned and member-owned handmade marketplace.
Please contact me with any inquiries about my work.
