Is there such a thing as working without color? Black, white, and grey are all colors, after all. Creating within a color limitation forces the artist to think more about light, shadow, and contrast instead of managing the distraction of working with many colors.
I made this botanical study that I framed for my library. I used a graphite pencil, blending stump, and a fine point eraser on Hahnemühle bamboo paper. I loved the process of creating shape and structure by using a single pencil.
