Cartography Accordion Book
I finished a series of paintings I named “Cartography” because they looked like abstracted maps. In the end, I liked some areas of the paintings, but not the wholes. So I got out my paper trimmer and cut them up into little rectangles to be fitted into a double-sided accordion book made with textured card stock and book binding tape at the folds. It is, in it’s own way, an old-fashioned folded map.
Tiny Tree Popup Gallery Accordion
There's something magical and dollhouse-like to a tiny painting. When you work small you need to distill the objects and carefully compose, to create a semi-abstraction. This tiny gallery features small watercolor paintings of trees I met while on vacation in Florida. The base structure is a sheet of Mohawk text weight paper I had leftover from another project. The cover is a design from French Paper. I love how the paper structure brought the paintings together into a nice display.
How to Find Inspiration During a Pandemic Zine
The Pandemic Zine was published in 2020 as a project for my graphic design friends during lockdown. The zine was inspired by the Plague (aka Black Death) and medieval illustrated manuscripts, paintings, and sculptures. It was available for sale for a short time, and found its way to the Ohio State University Library collections.
