Botanicals in Graphite
A botanical study in graphite, custom framed for my library. I used several grades of graphite pencils, a blending stump, and a fine point eraser on Hahnemühle bamboo paper. I loved the process of creating shape and structure by using a single color.
Winter Abstract Landscapes
Here the larger painting was created with grey shades of Neocolor crayons, graphite, acrylic ink and acrylic gouache. The beauty of this type of abstract painting involves something I learned from Louise Fletcher: divide a large sheet of paper into six sections with artist tape, then just paint the whole paper, right over the tape, and ignore the sections. When the tape is removed, some very interesting smaller paintings appear.
Interconnection of Our Inner Landscapes
A series of abstract landscapes, in monochromatic mixed-media on paper, painted in response to the many-shaded and tangled emotional landscapes we as humans all share.
