I am an artist who works with physical materials to explore the patterns and tactile qualities of objects. I also write about art, history, and exploring nature.

I believe creativity is about the process and requires a knowledge of materials that is gained through a slow attention to practice plus a good deal of play and experimentation. Sometimes I digitize my work using Adobe Photoshop. Sometimes I sell what I make and teach in-person classes.
I hope to inspire you to step away from the digital world and re-engage your physical senses as part of a creative life.

Most of my inspiration comes from walking in gardens, along lakeshores, and in art and archaeology museums. I have a BA in history, an AAS in graphic design, and I love thinking and talking about how objects in the real world tell stories and how history and the arts are relevant for a healthy society.
When I’m not in the studio, I may be in my library with a book and a cup of tea, or I may be out in the garden fussing over my flowers. My gardening goal is to have as many daffodils in my yard as possible, although my irises are competing for that top position.
I live in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with an adorable husband who makes a wicked latté, a daughter who is away at graduate school, and a fetching-obsessed cattle dog with an attitude.
